I finally got around to taking some pictures of Piper's nursery to share. I had a lot of fun planning this room and seeing it all come together. I wanted something unique and along the vintage-ish realm, and of course I had to add in the shiplapped wall. Every time I walk into her room I smile. It's just a happy place to be!

Our focus today was converting Customary units of capacity. Along with learning about the GallonBot, we played this Gallon Race game that I came up with (rules below). Generally, I like to play Gallon Relay outside, but the frigid 'spring' weather wouldn't allow it today, so we compromised and I think this game worked out even better. The students were very into it. We paused the game a few times to count how many cups/pints/quarts/and even ounces each team had.
Gallon Race: Object: Two teams race to fill up a gallon the fastest.
This was so much fun and I really think it helped my students to gain a better understanding of the units of capacity.
This week, our math classes started our unit on measurement. More specially, the U.S. Customary System of measurement. We will be learning about length, capacity and weight. Here are some anchor charts I put together for the students to reference their learning. We will be adding another chart for weight and revisiting each chart next chapter to fill in the units for the Metric System. I like to set up the charts this way so that the students can compare the two systems. Did you know that U.S.A. is the only (industrialized) country that uses the Customary System of Measurement?
